 MONTPARNASSE & LUXEMBOURG DISTRICTS

The Montparnasse Tower dominates the whole district with its mighty height of 210 metres. Well known as the artists district, Montparnasse used to be frequently visited by many major artists of the 20th Century, such as Picasso, Soutine, Foujita, Modigliani, Braque, Man Ray... From this rich past, Montparnasse has thus conserved artist workshops, famous cafés and brasseries, such as the Closerie des Lilas or the Dôme. This Parisian distrct boasts important cultural settings with several points of interest such as the Panoramic Observatory of the Montparnasse Tower, the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens just a few steps from Villa Luxembourg, the Montparnasse cemetery, the key entrance into the Catacombes, the Bourdelle Museum, the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art, and many more.

 THE LUXEMBOURG GARDENS

The gardens, which cover 25 hectares of land, are split into French gardens and English gardens. Between the two lies a geometric forest and a large pond. There is also an orchard, an apiary, spacious greenhouses each blossoming with a collection of breathtaking orchids and rose gardens. So, in conclusion, the only thing you must do in the Luxembourg gardens is to relax, stroll around the gardens, and admire their beauty!

 CULTURAL DESTINATION

During your stay at the Villa Luxembourg, Rue de la Gaité is a must-see destination  : a mecca for artistic creation, boasting several theatres. With numerous music halls, shows and cabarets – discover or rediscover this buzzing atmosphere which has been enjoyed since the 19th century and has given the street its current reputation.

THE DÔME

The Dôme is one of Montparnasse's legendary restaurants. In a completely Art Deco setting with woodwork, stained glass, large lampshades, tan or green leather seats, Paris's artists and politicians have been jostling to get a seat in this mythic establishment since its creation in 1897. The menu honours fish and seafood: mullet, bouillabaisse and the famous sole meunière will delight your taste buds.
